By default, Dia and Comet save downloaded files to the Downloads folder in your Mac's home directory, because both are Chromium-based browsers. You can change this in each browser's settings under Downloads, and you can route large downloads to a manager like Myan.
Find your downloads
- Open Finder and click 'Downloads' in the sidebar, or press Cmd+Option+L.
- In the browser, open the downloads list to see recent files and reveal them in Finder.
Change the download location
- 1Open the browser's Settings.
- 2Go to the Downloads section.
- 3Set a new folder, or enable 'Ask where to save each file'.
Manage large downloads
Because Dia and Comet use Chromium's standard downloader, large files download over a single connection with weak resume. Installing the Myan extension captures these downloads and accelerates them, saving them wherever you choose.
No matter which browser you choose, Myan captures the download for you — with pause, resume, and multi-connection speed. Myan is a free, native download manager for macOS on Apple Silicon.
